2. Understanding Mix & Vape (or "Ready to boost," "Large Format")
The concept is simple: manufacturers fill bottles larger than needed with an e-liquid "overdosed" in flavorings.
- A 60ml bottle often contains 50ml of liquid.
- A 120ml bottle often contains 100ml of liquid.
The empty space is meant to hold one or more nicotine boosters (10ml vials dosed at 20mg/ml). By mixing them, you dilute the nicotine into the flavored base to get a ready-to-vape product.
The classic nicotine dosage
As a general rule, for a 50ml bottle:
- + 1 booster = 3 mg/ml nicotine.
- + 2 boosters = 6 mg/ml nicotine.
But once you move to larger sizes (100ml, 200ml, or more) or specific needs, mental calculation becomes tricky. That’s where our calculator comes in.
3. The crucial importance of the PG/VG ratio
This is the point most vapers forget, and that our calculator is one of the few to address.
Your e-liquid has a base ratio (e.g., 50/50 PG/VG). Your boosters also have a ratio (e.g., 30/70 PG/VG or 100% VG). If you mix two liquids with different viscosities, the final result changes.
Why is this important?
If you add a lot of very thick boosters (Full VG) into a thin liquid:
- The liquid thickens: The final VG ratio increases.
- Risk to the coil: If your coil is designed for thin liquid, a mixture that becomes too thick may struggle to soak the cotton, causing "Dry Hits" (burnt taste).
- Flavor delivery: A strong increase in VG can slightly soften the flavors and reduce the throat hit.
