Can you change e-liquid without changing the coil?

Yes, you can generally change e-liquid without changing the coil if it is still in good condition and the new liquid is compatible with your device. You simply have to accept that the two flavors will mix for a few puffs.

When can you keep the same coil?

You can keep the coil if:

• it does not have a burnt taste;
• flavor reproduction is still satisfactory;
• the new liquid has a PG/VG ratio compatible with the coil;
• you accept a short flavor transition.

The simple method for changing flavors

1. Vape the tank until only a small amount of liquid remains, without letting the cotton dry out.
2. Empty the remainder if your tank allows you to do so cleanly.
3. Clean only the parts of the tank designed to be rinsed, after removing the coil if it is replaceable.
4. Dry the tank thoroughly.
5. Fill it with the new e-liquid.
6. Wait a few minutes for the new liquid to gradually replace the old liquid in the cotton.

Do not rinse a prebuilt coil simply to change flavors: water remains in the cotton, and the result is often disappointing. With a pod featuring an integrated coil, do not disassemble it; replace the pod if you want a perfectly clean transition.

How long does the old liquid’s flavor remain?

It depends on the flavorings. A light flavor may disappear quickly, while very refreshing menthol, coffee, cinnamon, or certain dessert flavors can remain noticeable in the cotton much longer.

If you switch between two very different flavor profiles, it may be more convenient to reserve a pod or coil for each flavor family.

When should you change the coil at the same time?

Change the coil if the old one is already worn out, has a burnt taste, produces a noticeably degraded flavor, or if the new liquid requires a different type of coil. A change in PG/VG ratio may in particular require a different setup.

Replaceable coils

Pay attention to the new liquid’s PG/VG ratio

Changing flavor is not necessarily a problem; changing viscosity completely can be. Before switching from a 50/50 liquid to one that is very high in VG, check that your coil can wick it properly.

Can you deliberately mix two e-liquids?
