An electronic cigarette that no longer turns on is not necessarily out of service. A completely discharged battery, an activated lock, poor cartridge contact, or electronic protection can produce exactly the same symptom. Follow these steps in order before replacing the device.

1. Check the power-on method

Many devices use five quick presses of the main button to turn on or off, but this is not universal. Some pods are draw-activated only, while others have a separate switch or lock. Check your model’s manual.

2. Connect the device with a reliable cable

A completely discharged battery may result in a blank screen. Test a compatible power source and cable, then leave the device plugged in for a few minutes. If no indicator responds, follow our troubleshooting guide for an electronic cigarette that won’t charge.

3. Look for a lock

Some models allow you to lock the Fire button or all controls. The screen may then appear inactive, depending on the model. Check for a Lock button or the key combination specified by the manufacturer.

4. Remove and reinsert the cartridge

On a pod, poor contact between the cartridge and battery can prevent the coil from being detected. Remove the cartridge, gently wipe the contacts if they are damp, then reinsert it without forcing it.

Cartridges such as Vaporesso XROS Series Pods use contacts that must remain clean and dry on the battery side.

5. Check whether a leak has reached the contacts

A small amount of e-liquid in the pod compartment can interfere with the electrical connection. Turn off the device if possible and wipe it with absorbent paper. If leaks occur repeatedly, see why my electronic cigarette is leaking.

6. Let the electronics return to normal

After overheating, a detected short circuit, or unusual use, some chipsets enter protection mode. Remove the cartridge, let the device cool down, and consult the manual before trying again.

7. Do not disassemble a built-in battery

If the device still does not respond after several attempts with compatible charging equipment, the battery, port, or electronics may be faulty. Do not open the casing of a pod with a built-in battery to attempt an improvised repair.

When should you replace the device?

If the battery is swollen, the casing is deformed, the port is damaged, or the device heats up abnormally, stop using it. If there are no signs of danger but all tests remain unsuccessful, replacement or after-sales service may be necessary.

Among the pods currently listed, VAPEVO offers the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini Kit, the Vaporesso XROS 6 Kit, or, for a more powerful vape, the Voopoo Drag S3 Kit.

FAQ

My electronic cigarette flashes but does not turn on: why?

The flashing usually corresponds to a status or protection code. Count the flashes and consult the model’s manual to interpret the signal.

The screen stays black even though the device still vapes

The problem may then affect only the display. Avoid changing settings blindly and have the device checked or replaced.

Can a faulty cartridge prevent the device from turning on?

It can prevent coil detection or activation on some pods. Testing a new compatible cartridge may help with the diagnosis.
